Proper Fish HAndling

Take a series of photos or a video of yourself or a buddy releasing a not-for-harvest fish back into the water using proper techniques.
  • Minimize air exposure and handling time
  • Keep the fish wet and prevent contact with dry surfaces
  • Handle with care
  • Crimp your barbs
  • Use a rubber landing net
  • Ensure that the fish is swimming prior to release 
  • Take care when playing and landing the fish

POST IT

Post your photos or video with the hashtag #dieanotherdayderby. Be sure to also tag @northsoundtu.

regulations

  • Presented by North Sound Trout Unlimited, PO Box 3043, Bellingham, WA, 98227.
  • Odds are determined by the number of entries.
  • Monthly prizes may include flies, fly boxes, gear, tools, gift cards, etc. Retail value $20-$40.
  • Entry not limited by geographical location.
  • No purchase necessary.
  • Grand prize winner will be announced April 2019. Retail value $500.
  • Grand prize will be scheduled by May 2019.

The prizes

One winner will be chosen monthly to receive a prize. Prizes range from flies and fly boxes to gift cards and gear. All monthly winners will be entered into a special grand prize drawing at our Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) event in April 2019. You need not be present to win (but why would you want to miss F3T?!).

​Grand Prize: a full-day guided boat trip on the Puget Sound with Justin Waters of All-Waters Fly Fishing. Valued at $500. ​

Judging is subjective. Bonus points will be awarded for creativity.
